Homemade Basil Tea Recipe




This basil tea recipe is  very healthy, easy, and can be made in minutes! You can use either dried basil or chopped fresh basil.

For centuries, people have using fresh and dried basil, basil oils, infusions and extracts for their uses as an antioxidant and health giving benefits.

The fragrant basil herb  leaves can be used in a number of ways to ease fever, calm coughs, and soothe sore throats.

Ingredients: (makes 2 cups)

2 cups water
3 tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves
OR
1½ tbsp dried basil

tbsp = tablespoon

Directions:

Fresh: Chop the basil leaves and add to a cup. Pour on some just *boiled water and let steep for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. If you chopped them finely enough, you can drink the basil.

Dried: Use it as you would loose tea leaves. Or, heat the water in a saucepan  to *boiling point. Turn off the heat, add the dried basil and let steep (sit) for about 5-10 minutes. Pour through a strainer and serve.

*Boiling herbs too long may negate some of the benefits of basil.
