Ongoing medical studies into turmeric spice and its active ingredient curcumin seem very promising, with some fantastic possibilities for your health and wellbeing. And brewing a cup of turmeric tea is an excellent way of getting a daily dose of turmeric goodness!
Here are just a few of the potential turmeric benefits...
- May be an effective malaria treatment
- By removing plaque build up in the brain, it may slow Alzheimer's progression
- Encourages the production of gastric juices which helps digestion
- It is a natural pain reliever
2 teaspoons ground turmeric
Half a teaspoon ground ginger
Half a teaspoon ground cinnamon
Squeeze of lemon juice
2 cups of water
Agave nectar or honey (optional)
Directions:
Put the water and ground spices into a saucepan and slowly bring to the *boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes and then turn off the heat. Add the lemon and let steep (sit) for 5 - 10 minutes. Pour through a tea strainer before drinking. Add the agave or honey if using.
*Since boiling may destroy some of the essential oils and therefore some of the turmeric benefits, I don't over boil the spices.
